Resolutions 2020

Let today be the day you give up who you’ve been for who you can become. Every day, think as you wake up, “Today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.” — Dalai Lama

Some people play it safe with their New Year’s resolutions; others take it to the extreme.

The year 2019, the three most popular New Year’s resolutions all had to do with diet and exercise, followed by saving more and then learning a new skill or hobby. Such vague and common goals, however, are easily forgotten; 80% of resolutions are abandoned by mid-February, and only 8% are ever accomplished.

Instead, consider taking your 2020 goal to another level, one that will really force you to break unhealthy habits, break new ground, or beat personal records. Setting such lofty goals won’t just help you expand the limits of your own abilities — it will help keep you accountable. After all, few will be bold enough to ask you about that 10 lbs. you said you’d lose this year, but who wouldn’t want to know more about your goal to swim with a shark, run a marathon in Kenya, or cut a word out of your vocabulary entirely?

Here are my seven, not those wild & crazy, but bold New Year’s resolutions that will inspire you to take your 2020 goals to new heights.

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

5. Health Is Everything

When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied. Therefore, a fit & healthy body!

6. Know Your Worth

Know your worth. Don’t settle for mediocrity. Take a chance. Take a risk. Never settle for less than you deserve. Remember, No one is you and that is your power.

7. Read More!

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers. They say, not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers. 2020 is about reading & learning! Frankly, you only need to make it a habit, discover your type of books and find a bit of time for reading here and there.

2020 is here, So go ahead & take a little bit more risk, and you’ll find out more about yourself and what you’re capable of doing.
